Adjust the filter number
If you have no missing teeth on the trigger wheel the sensor is measuring then set to even number of the teeth. When you adjust 'Engine Speed Input (number of teeth)' value you need change the filter also
'Engine Speed Input Filtering' = Same as 'Engine Speed Input (number of teeth)' value
ANALOG RPM INPUT

"wondering if picking up off the w terminal on the alternator would be another option?"
Does your alternator have a W+ output? I just looked up a diagram for my exact alternator (oex dxa433u), and it doesn't have a W+ pin.
My issue seems to be a signal interference, im unable to find a tach cluster wire to splice into, there's seemingly no wiring diagrams on the internet that show pinout for a diesel cluster. Im probably gonna be in for a very expensive and time costly sensor replacement unless I can get a rpm wire somewhere. Im meant to be taking the car on a week long road trip in 2 weeks time this may not be good

Re: ANALOG RPM INPUT
if your still trying to find a good signal use the dash cluster wiring, use a oscilloscope use that to find the rpm pin (if your cluster is the same as mine its the blue connector and third pin in on the right side of the connector when looking from the underside of the connector, when finding it with the oscilloscope it will be the only pin with a nice 12v square wave and if not to sure give it some rpm and the frequency will increase) that pin will give you a clean 12v square wave signal, you can tap into that and use a zeiner diode (I used a 4.3v ziener diode) to drop the voltage below 5v for the lamik.XSSV80 wrote: 23 Aug 2025, 07:31 "wondering if picking up off the w terminal on the alternator would be another option?"

as for the w terminal, correct me if Im wrong but if your alternator doesn't have a dedicated w terminal you can tap into one of the stator windings and get the same result. ultimately id go with tapping into the wiring behind the dash if you can.
