You can't do that without oil pressure. The P position mechanism is hydraulic (8hp70 for example).

Why gearbox not hold neutral position for 15mins after engine off with key in slot (contact R on) like it does in OEM mechatronics? Some times its help to move vehicle by hand to service lift :) and now for that needed to hold engine on for neutral

These guys have made a manual override for the DCT boxes, and if you read the comments they are working on a manual override for the 8HP boxes, which should be available very soon.

So for anyone interested it might be worth keeping an eye out to see what they come out with.

Thanks, interesting! In case of E60 lci we already have release cable in right place, but on 8hp release lever need to be pulled down instead of 6hp pull up, and there are no convenient protrusions for attaching the cable to the case, need to do make some custom…

Alas this lever doesn't work with the BMW ZF boxes.

But reading here: https://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=1194247 it says................

On a BMW apparently for all 8-speed auto gear boxes (sport or standard) they updated the software to release the transmission using the shifter.
1: Push start button or attempt to start the car (even if it doesn't turn over, just push it down anyway)
2: Push the lever twice in to N
3: Push the lever to N and hold for 5 seconds
4: Transmission is now disengaged for 15 minutes after which it will re-lock itself.

So could something like this be added to the Turbolamik TCU software at some point in the future?

Im curious how it would do that if has no oil pressure to releast the lock. I assume it uses oil pressure to push the lock open.

When you attempt to start engine gearbox oil pump makes pressure enough to release parking state to neutral.
But anyway oem feature of holding neutral for 15 mins before car sleeps is very usefull

Maybe it uses the HAS pressure accumulator, I’ve always removed them when I have the mechatronics out for soldering? I don’t think the TCU connects to it electronically so doubt there’s anyway to to do it (assuming that’s how it works).

HIS accumulator used for MSA function. Early years 8hp in f10 come without them. So holding neutral function unrelated with HIS
