I see references to software 10.66, how do I know what software level I have?

What is the correct process to update the software?

*I have an S54 making 300whp and an 8HP45.

If connect with tcu in tunerpro rt, the version is shown in the lower left corner.

To update, connect tcu to pc, run updatesoft.exe, select new formware, write flash. If there is a new startup file available for the firmware, use it for firmware changes to take effect.

Does anything need to be configured in TunerPro after, like tire size, gear ratio or does all of that remain as before?

The firmware update itself does not change the settings.

I checked the software level and I am on 10.6.0

So, I am attempting to update the software to the BMW E90 Petrol 8HP45 SW10_66.zip. I downloaded the file and extracted it to a folder.

I downloaded the TCU updatesoft 10_66.rar file and opened it, when I try to select a file it does not show the "BMW E90 Petrol 8HP45 SW10_66.bin" file, it only shows files listed as a .tcubin.

What am I doing wrong?

Had alot of help from Facebook and think I've got it done, this was my process.

I originally downloaded the files from a link on this forum but I didn't get the V10.66.tcubin, but found it in this link https://forum.turbolamik.eu/download/file.php?id=153

I closed TunerPro and then connected to the car and ran the TCU UpdateSoft application and loaded V10.66.tcubin.

From there I loaded the 10.66 XDF and ADX into TunerPro and opened E90 Petrol 8HP45 SW10_66.bin in TunerPro.

I changed a few parameters:
1. Can2A Type CAR - And changed top E46 (Note my original v10.6.bin was set to 33 which doesn't show a definition to what CAN bus that should be)
2. Wheel Roollout
3. Enable Error 7 diagnostics - Set
4. Can2 bus sleep time - Set to 5

And then uploaded to the car.

One thing I noticed is that when I read the SW ID out of my original .bin and the 10.66.bin they both show 10.6... maybe I did something wrong?

I fired it up and moved it in the shop, so I haven't driven it, but it seemed like it shifted into 1st and drove off nicer, so I think I have the new firmware in it, but the sw ID is confusing me.

33 is the e46 SMG
