Using gear 1

Hi,

I’ve been using turbo Lamik for 18 months and am happy with the developments.

I’ve been trying to tune the shifts 1 - 2 and 2 - 1 and am not able to make them smooth across the whole temperature range. Because of a lack of instructions, I’m guessing and using trial and error; which is hugely time consuming.

Is it true that shifts in and out or gear 1 aren’t affected by automatic adaptations? Or there are some other constraints around that he use of 1st gear?

I’m especially keen to get thso figure out as I intend to reduce my final drive ratio when I get my transfer box rebuilt to reduce rpm for motorway cruising in gear 8; which might make using gear 1 nescessary.

Any suggestions for improving gear 1 tuning?

Thanks, Mat

Firstly u need to make smooth shifts on warmed trans (approx 80-95)
You can play with two temperature correction tables after.
Tcu should receive proper calculated torque.
In which pedal position shifts more rougher? Is other gears are ok?
Are you using 10.71 base maps for 8hp70?

Yes, correct, all other shifts are good and have always been good across various firmware revisions. I have 1-2 2-1 shifts smooth at operating temperature through trial and error changing of values with little to no instruction.

However, the temperature correction tables need explanation, trial and error is very time consuming (especially as the temperature is constantly changing during driving). Why there are two columns for the same temperature in these tables needs explanation.

Several messages started back in February to Lukas go unanswered on Viber.

Hence my original post, can some instruction be provided from @Luki or @jar on this. Also some clarification why gear 1 needs tuning and can’t be incorporated into the same tuning system as the other shifts.

First column are temperature correction factor for ongoing clutch and second one is for offgoing clutch.
In same time use another one table like temperature pulse correction

That’s great info, thanks. Where did you find it out?

Spending much time every night driving and testing, my own experience in tuning 6hp in tunerpro helped me a bit, and some information from htg online manuals helps to understand basically how work gear changing. All that i do for making everyday city driving with a pleasure, not only drag racing :)

Could you help me on which table I can do these tests?

Interestingly, Lucas always answers questions on the day of sending SMS, as well as by mail. I clarified a lot during the assembly of the car. Try contacting us by mail.
