Can launch function work in sport auto mode or only manual mode and if so how

Hi guys. Iv fitted a 8hp70 with f30 330d shifter on my e36 drag car. Using a non can ecu .everything is reading perfectly on the lamic.all analogue inputs fine but when i shift to drive on p1 the display shows 6M...R..N.P all fine.what could be the issue.thanks
