Not sure what you mean by retain, but my truck has 4.1 gears and I use 1st gear up to about 5 km/h with light throttle.

I also don't lock up the converter until 4000 RPM with +40 TPS in 1st to 5th gear or over 80km/h in 6th to 8th. I know this is unusual in an 8HP but that's how it usually works in ...

Increase the values in the "Map 2" row and see if it helps. What's your diff ratio? If it's too high maybe start in 1st gear.

Check your lock up tables, you might be locking up the converter too early. Try enabling limited lockup slip on P1 if it's disabled.

The 8hp doesn't need to shift gear by gear. Maybe you don't have the right settings or kickdown enabled.

I have an 8HP90 from a hellcat in my truck. Going full throttle in high gear takes forever to downshift to 3rd or 4th gear. The problem seems to be that the transmission goes gear by gear instead of directly going to the needed gear.

For example, if in 8th gear and full throttle, it will go 8->7->6 ...

I'm using a surface laptop with windows 11 and it worked right away. Maybe the version of windows 11 you have with the issue is outdated and it was patched at some point...
