2nd gear take off problem on p1

Post by Hgh88 »

Hello , im having problem with adapted base map on e90 diesel
When im trying to start from a complete stop clutch doesnt seem to slip enough time for my car to get in a working rpm and stuters and ends up stopping slipping at 600-700 rpm
May be because im running really long dif ratio 2.35 and a big single turbo
Any suggestions what values i should change to fix this

Thanks in advance

Check your lock up tables, you might be locking up the converter too early. Try enabling limited lockup slip on P1 if it's disabled.

Hey , thank you for answer but ive already figured out the logic of the emulator - redacted map 1 rpms and transferred them in lock 1 variant and car starts fine

Hello, could anyone tell me how I can make the torque converter allow me to slide more so that the engine doesn't stall when leaving in second gear?
reverse gear slides enough allowing it to go up to almost 2000 rpm but forward gear does not allow it to go beyond 1400-1500 rpm and it comes out very clumsy
Could someone tell me which tables I can adjust this to?

Increase the values in the "Map 2" row and see if it helps. What's your diff ratio? If it's too high maybe start in 1st gear.

It is a 4x4 and the ratio is 3:9. The problem if I increase that value is that then in retention it stays open below those rpm and does not retain.

Not sure what you mean by retain, but my truck has 4.1 gears and I use 1st gear up to about 5 km/h with light throttle.

I also don't lock up the converter until 4000 RPM with +40 TPS in 1st to 5th gear or over 80km/h in 6th to 8th. I know this is unusual in an 8HP but that's how it usually works in every other old school transmission and from my experience it makes driving the truck way smoother and gets the turbos spooling faster at low RPM. I might be losing some mpg but I rather it shifts and drives better.

Some might argue that it would overheat the transmission fluid but I don't have a thermostat and a relatively big cooler. I have the fan turn on at 65c and I have never seen the fluid temp over 80c after heavy driving in +40c weather. It usually sits right at 70 in hot weather and at 60-65 in cooler weather. I might change the fan temp in winter to keep it running warmer.

You can also check if the clutch slipt strategy is enabled under Transmission Calibration. I never tried it, but it makes the transmission slip and the car won't move if no throttle is applied even without brakes.
