LS1 RPM Signal from Crank Trigger

Post by RVU55 »

I am using the analog inputs on my LS1 to set up my turbo lamik, and I'm trying to find out settings for the crank trigger. Has anyone done this before using the factory ECU? I have already set up brake pedal, TPS and MAP sensor settings so once I set up the RPM I am ready for first startup. Alternatively is there an easier way using the stock ECU to get an RPM input?
Cheers!

Whats the factory ECU your using? CAN bus honestly is easier but you still have to wire in your map sensor to an analog, imo. Analog inputs can be used but you'll have to piggy back all the existing sensors the ECU uses.

I am using the standard 2002 ECU, I think it is called a P01 and its a few years before CAN.

If no CAN is available you'll need to run the TCU in standalone mode.
At a minimum, a brake pedal switch, a TPS sensor, Map sensor, and an RPM signal.
You can piggyback from the OEM sensors on the engine with the exception of the OEM LS1 RPM signal. The LS1 does offers a tach signal that is easy to find if you do a google search (a resistor is needed as a pull up).

Thanks for this information. I have tried wiring in the crank signal, but it is 12v instead of 5V so unlikely to be suitable. What resistor will I need to use after the tach signal as a pull up?

This is a solution online for a tach hookup for an LS swap, it is still a 12v signal. Should this be sufficient?

12V source -> 10K 1/2w resistor -> Analog input.

Can the Analog input be configured to read 12v?

Thanks
