First start, not going into gear?
Project is an E90 BMW with an 8HP45 transmission and I am using an F3x electronic shifter. I wasnt getting any error codes at first, but I also couldn't put it into neutral or drive. The shifter is lit up as expected but the TCU is essentially ignoring any inputs. I am using the E9x wiring harness and flashed the 8HP45 base map, changed the Can1 Selector to 32 (for the F series electronic shifter) and Can 2 CAR to 30 since it had a 6HP and is an E9x body. After fiddling with it even more, I got even more errors on the dash regarding the transmission and selector improbable codes as well as a code 20 intermittently on the Turbolamik screen. Help!

Re: First start, not going into gear?
I had a brief success by removing and reseating the connector on the transmission. That worked, until it didn't anymore at all.
Needless to say, that was short lived. The input shaft speed sensor started reading and all was good, until it stopped working again and nothing helped. I have pulled the mechatronics out to investigate further.

Ended up removing the TCU board from the mechatronics and found that a couple traces were shorted after adding the potting epoxy somehow.
So I fixed those by cutting them from the back and redoing with wires. Not the most elegant solution, but at least its hidden inside the transmission.

Re: First start, not going into gear?
Issue resolved. Turns out it was a bad patch job on the TCU bypass.
