8hp70 or 8hp75

Post by Mata »

I have been using TCU for the last 6 months with my old 8hp70, there is a fault with ‘A’ clutch after a competitors gearbox control unit put the gearbox into reverse at 50mph.

I have the choice of 8hp70x or 8hp75x. I know support for 8hp75 is developing with TCU and I know 75 can take a little more torque in factory setup and had slightly higher gear ratio. What is the best choice for use with Turbo Lamik controller?

8hp75 are sometimes cheaper to buy because they come from newer cars with less need for used parts. The 8hp75 will be in better shape due to the lower mileage. Technically, the 8hp75 gearbox does not differ much from the 8hp70. The 8hp75 is a bit more sensitive to pressure changes and therefore we had to put in a bit more work to get it to work as well as the 8hp70. Both gearboxes work equally well with TCU, 8hp75 is just more sensitive to changes in TCU tuning

Thanks guys for the information, very helpful.

Interesting how prices have risen on the last year, I am I am also seeing many more 8hp75x for sale now in the rather than 8hp70x in the UK.
