program modes using two push-buttons instead
of the rotary switch. Anyone seen this or doing
this?

Question for you, does the TCU rember the last mode after a power cycle or does it default to mode 1?
I guess actually, i would like it to default/reset to mode 2 beacuase i use bmw shifter in a road car, so shifter in D position = mode 1, shifter in S position = default mode 2, then use up down buttons to move between modes...?

BMW selector when set to D will always run program 1.
If you like the settings from program 2, you can rewrite its settings to program 1
If you like the settings from program 2, you can rewrite its settings to program 1
