PT-can unreadable for diagnostics

Post by eriktveit »

Anyone experienced issues with turbo lamik making the PT canbus (BMW E61) unreadable for diagnostics?
Car runs as it should, just not able to access PT-can units (DDE/ABS) for diagnostics.
Unplugged (lamik controller) can low is 2.38, can high is 2.58.
Lamik gets data from DDE, so it reads out coolant temp, engine rpm and such.
Setting for canbus in turbo lamik is for e6x/E9x canbus, and canbus speed is same as in base maps for e9x.
If I unplug the lamik controller I can diagnose the PT-can system.
PT-can is in new wires from KBL (body module/fuse box front) splits itself to turbo lamik and DDE. Then before the DDE it splits itself into the ABS unit. Disconnecting either DDE or ABS does not help.

you triying diagnose car by obd or pt-can directly connected to dcan interface on 500kps speed? keep in mind about thst need 120ohm termination on bus.

didnt have any problem to diagnose whole car via obd.

I am trying to diagnose via the obd connector. Where are you supposed to put this 120 ohm resistor? I get it if you just leave the old 6hp plug disconnected, but here there's no open ends in my PT-network.

i'm talking about resistor in case of direct pt-can connection for diagnostic (not through obd-gate)
do you use any custom monitoring displays or dashboards in car?

Everything in that regard is stock.
PT-can gets sent out by kbl going to the different modules.
Obd goes straight into DDE and CAD as original.
K-can goes between cas, kombi, cluster and so on.

The car should be "original" from a diagnostic via the obd port kind of view.

And No, I don't use any custom dashes etc, only pad via obd, which makes this annoying that it doesnt work.

OBD straight to DDE? What? I think you need better learn or understand can network in that car.
And write proper names of modules! Bmw don't have KBL or CAD, wrong naming makes me confused.
I think here is 100% your misstake in some wire harness

OBD wire 9 (SW) goes to DDE pin 53, OBD therefore goes straight to DDE.
OBD wire 7 (WS/BL) goes to BGM (Body gateway module) pin 18.
OBD wire 1 (GN/RT) goes to CAS 13...

ETC...

OBD port is original, DDE connnection to car is original. TCU connection to car is original. Only difference is PT can+/-, K-can+/- and PT can wake up which has been modified. PT can wake up always has 12v. PT can +/- goes from Body Gateway Module onto TCU/DDE/ABS. K-can goes from CAS to LMM/Instrument/Heating(ihka)/Body Gateway Module/Basic body module.

PT can high is 29 from BGM to TCU 67 and DDE 46
PT can low is 30 from BGM, to TCU 66 and DDE 33

Omagad, you really think that 9 pin in obd matters in case of diagnosctics?))
First of all you need to tell year of car. But if you talk about 7 pin then it seems car is pre-lci.
7 pin is k-line for diagnostics trough sgm/kgm module.

Problem got sorted with the help of Lukasz. 😎
Wrong settings in can2 meny. All can2 "send id's" and wheel speed to can has to be off. So no mark. And send data oem has to be enabled.
