BMW INPA not connecting

Post by Mata »

I can't connect to DDE6 / EDC16 ECU usiong INPA diagnstics when TCU is connected on CAN. Is there a fix or workaround, or do i need to unplug TCU to use these diagnostics? Thanks.

Do you have frames running in castom can? If so, turn them off because they can send on the address of diagnostic frames

so far I have not had any problems with diagnostics

Yes i have CAN device translating rpm and coolant temp for my oem dashboard but connecting or not connecting this device makes no difference.

With TCU unplugged INPA will connect, with TCU plugged IPNA retrurns SYS-0012:IDENTIFICATION ERROR when trying to connect.

Its not a big deal, i can unpug TCU if i have to.

I mean custom can in TCU.
TCU can send message on Diagnostics address
Check if you have it turned on, if so, turn off and check IPNA

Ah ok i understand.

When i disable 'CSB V3 ID+1' INPA is able to connect however is unstable and throws constant errors (EDIABAS ApiCheckJobStatus: Error#13, data transmission to interface disturbed). If i also disable 'CSB V3 ID+2' and 'CSB V3 ID+3' INPA remains unstable.

Actually I tried this again and have INPA working and stable by disabling ‘CSB V3 ID+1' and 'CSB V3 ID+2'. I can leave ‘CSB V3 ID+3' checked for driving my CAN display and all is working.

What is the purpose of the frames in ‘CSB V3 ID+1' and 'CSB V3 ID+2' (0x420 and 0x421)?

Thanks

These frames are used for communication with the Stand Alone controller and for handling external displays

These can frames are not used in original cars. You can also change their address so there will be no problem with communication
