shifter Analogue input switching

Hi, having trouble getting shifter to work using analogue input switching. I have set the selector input to 15 and the analogue input shifting to the analogue inputs i am using ( P=A1, R=A3, D=A8) but it does not work. For the wiring i have 5v to the switches and the output of switch to the analogue inputs so they should receive 5v when switch closes for the shifter position. Can anyone advise what i might be missing here? Thanks
