The TCU sends transmission information via the CAN bus. If the dash has the ability to set the appropriate CAN frames, it can display information such as Ecumaster ADU.

In cars with factory instrument cluster, we can send frames pretending to be the factory box, for example 6hp in BMW e90 / E60

It does use CAN to transfer data from my current ECU
I can add extra channels would you supply the CAN data with the TCU or would it be programmed to my ECU

So TCU has ability to communicate on bmw PT can network? Which means TCU can also send other stuff than gear output on can?
I'm asking cuz i'm on a project doing ls engine in my bmw e90, but i'll be running it with factory Chevrolet ecu (no canbus on this one).
Since my E90 is a factory auto and without the pt can functional the windshield wipers will never turn off.

Please forget the last part about the functioning pt network, I've got the pt up and wipers are OK now. But i'm still curious about what data TCU is able to send on the network.
