Viewing Error Codes

Without the Turbolamik LCD display, how do you view error codes?
I have tried looking in TunerRT but I am not familiar with this software.

context: gearbox is stuck in 6th gear (limp-home mode)

With TCU powered up and usb connected to laptop.

In tuner pro's tool bar click the Red circle - "Show Data Dash". Click the Left/Right arrows just to the left of the Red circle to show live data. Then click the Serial Cable button further left of the Left/Right arrows
This will open the data view and you'll find history codes and active error codes in the bottom right corner.

I cannot seem to get live data on my TCU, I think this is because I am having to use ADX/ADF version 10.73 despite my TCU running 10.72.
When downloading this, XDF_ADX 10.72.zip, I get an error opening it stating that it's an invalid file, I had a friend extract the files and then send me them.

When loading the XDF file, I get the following error
Failed to load C:\Users\a\Downloads\XDF_ADX 10..72\XDF TCU V10_72.xdf
Illegal Character `<` in element tag
