LCD screen staying on

Post by R3mix2jz »

While fixing other issues with my setup i realized i didnt have 51-53 wired to constant battery voltage. After correcting that my LCD screen stays on regardless of ignition position. if i remove the green wire #52 it goes off.

Go to CAN -> Can2 (Engine) -> Custom Can TX -> Can2 bus sleep time
Set it to 30 seconds.

The TCU is wired directly to battery and the key on ign input is a wake up input. The TCU will stay on for a short period then turn off. It will need this to do adaption and saving internally.

went in to make these changes to find it already set to 30 seconds but its still staying on. perhaps i have something wired wrong. originally i had 51 and 53 wired to key on relays without the green 52 wired at all and everything "worked". after rereading the installation manual i realized it was wired incorrectly. not sure what else could be causing this.

Just to confirm you should
connect 51,52,53 to the Battery Positive
connect 43,44,45 to the Battery Negative
connect 35 to your ignition switch that powers on the car (the key or a toggle etc..) this is also a 12v input. This input when turned off will cause the TCU to go into shut down and should power off after a short period.

The TCU grounds 1,2,3 I typically connect to the battery.

Also I would not recommend powering any input of the TCU from a PDM. Not even the ign switch input - wire it directly to a mechanical switch. If your not able to guarantee the PDM's outputs states when the PDM loses CAN or faults out. The TCU will go into park while your driving due to the loss of power. Which would suck. Having it directly to the battery ensures the only thing running the TCU is the battery and the key switch.
